    Description

This auction is for the remains of a Chubb split-bamboo fly rod with mortised wood (cedar?) nose (front of handle). Early rod has a stamped Chubb reel seat with Patent Applied For stamped on barrel so rod built before 1889 - see photo. This is the seat for which they received a patent in 1889. A neat piece of history with original handle and mid section as well as what looks like a similar period and likely maker made tip but likely not original to other two sections. Sheet cork grip, full intermediates, early mixed ferrules and small english twist guides on tip section. Mid and butt section look to be full length and measure 36 1/2" long with tip section measuring 34 1/4" in length. Ferrules still serviceable and measure approximately .178 and .2795 Sold for parts, as a project rod or for display. See pictures for full description. Sold as shown.
