When it was announced that Enfield Precision Engineers Ltd.—
a company famous in England for the manufacture of aircraft and
guided weapon components— were to take over the complete
manufacture of Royal Enfield Interceptor motorcycles instead of
producing only the engine, everyone knew that something special
would follow, and here it is, a completely new Stage II Interceptor.
This machine is not mass produced but is made under tool-
room conditions in a precision engineering factory where only a
limited number are made each year embodying all the skill and
craftsmanship for which England is famous.
THE STABILITY AND FINANCIAL STRENGTH OF
    ROYAL ENFIELD
The parent company and outright owner of Royal Enfield is
    E. & H. P. Smith Ltd, of London, who own and/or control approxi-
mately thirty companies in England and Europe that are in many
diversified fields, They have consistently paid dividends to their
shareholders over a long period of years and their shares are
listed on the London Stock Exchange. Few in the United States
have known much about the Royal Enfield ownership, other than
the fact that the name has been favorably known the world over
for many long years. Royal Enfield is the fourth largest British
manufacturer of motorcycles, with dealers and distributors
    throughout the world.
A ride will convince the most demanding prospect that here is
a bike with outstanding qualities and road holding that is un-
equalled. Brakes that stop you with smoothness and ease of
operation that will stand abuse. Power and acceleration and a
smoothness of operation that will satisfy the most demanding.
Extremely large bearings, the exclusive and excellent Neutral
Finder feature, and many others. Here at last is a REALLY
    TOUGH British motorcycle.
The Interceptor is the latest mount from the famous Royal
Enfield stables —a go-anywhere thoroughbred with impeccable
good manners in traffic, a breathtaking performance on the open
road and an easily managed liveliness across country.
This is the bike for the enthusiast—a husky, good-looking machine always ready
to move far ahead of the rest swiftly, smoothly and without fuss.
A superb roadholder, the Interceptor has a specially reinforced frame to enable
it to absorb rough-ground punishment, a smooth-as-silk four-speed gearbox with
a cog for every need, a multi-plate clutch and highly efficient brakes.
Improvements include a longer and more comfortable dualseat, wider rear
fender, upswept sports-type mufflers, chrome covers on rear-suspension units,
non-corrosive glass-fibre battery box, coil-capacitor ignition which enables the
engine to operate without the battery, and the incorporation of a fuse in the bat-
    tery earth lead.
Finish of the machine is lavish, with an all-chrome tank carrying a centre red
stripe, polished alloy fork heads, all-chrome exhaust system and polished alloy
sports-pattern wheel discs. Frame is finished black.
The specification includes separately mounted 8,000 r.p.m. tachometer and 125
    m.p.h. tachometer (200 k.p.h.) speedometer and a fully adjustable 7 in. diameter
    headlamp.
Not everybody can have one. There aren’t enough to go around. That is why the
owner of an Interceptor always has something special. Something the other fellow
    hasn’t got.
