    NSU FOX
    for 1951-52
A SHIPMENT of the first 1951/52
NSU Fox machines has been re-
ceived by Butler & Smith in New York
for distribution to their dealer organiza-
    tion throughout the United States.
Notable among the changes made in
these new models is a four-speed shift,
which replaces the old three speed.
    Streamlining has been accentuated and
the front and rear springing are adjust-
    able by hand.
The Fox now comes in a striking new
Wine Red with chrome trim on all vital
parts to accentuate the beauty of design
    and advanced engineering.
This sturdy little lOOc.c. lightweight is
    a smooth running four-stroke, overhead
valve single that develops 6 horsepower
at 6500 rpm with a top speed of 55 mph
    claimed by the makers.
The oil is not mixed with the gas,
rather lubrication is fed under pressure
through a patented jet design. The drive
is through helical gears to the trans-
    mission (no primary chain).
Backed by the know-how and experi-
ence which has produced the NSU line
for over 70 years, the Fox underwent
rigid testing before it was placed on the
market. Four men, including the famous
Hermann Bohm and Wilhelm Herz, took
four of these superb machines over
185,000 miles of roads through the Alps,
where the soundness of the general de-
    sign was proven.
